Meditation Workshop with Beth Upton

We warmly invite you to a special meditation workshop with Beth Upton, a teacher with deep experience and clarity in her guidance.

Beth was a Buddhist nun for ten years, practicing intensively under the guidance of great masters such as Pa Auk Sayadaw in Myanmar. During that time she trained extensively in the Theravāda tradition as well as in other meditation methods, spending long periods in retreat in caves and forests. Since 2014 she has been teaching and today leads the Sanditthika Meditation Community in Almería.

In this gathering Beth will guide a meditation and offer plenty of time for questions and answers, where you can share your concerns and receive personal guidance from her direct and compassionate experience.

It is a unique opportunity to learn from a teacher who combines the depth of monastic practice with the sensitivity of someone who also understands the challenges of everyday life.

About Beth Upton

Beth was born in 1982 in London. She graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Economics, then in 2008 ordained as a Buddhist nun at Pa Auk Meditation Centre in Myanmar. She spent five years training diligently in meditation in the Theravada tradition under the guidance of Pa Auk Sayadaw, then a further five years training in other meditation methods and doing long solo retreats. In 2014 Beth founded Sanditthika Meditation Community in the caves of Almeria, Spain. In 2018, after ten years of monastic life, Beth decided to disrobe in order to integrate some of the challenges of western life into her Dhamma practice. Beth has been teaching meditation since 2014 both in Almeria and in meditation retreats around the world.
