Dear sangha and members of the Association de Dana Sati and other interested people,

Hello again. Last week I wrote to you as Founder of Sala Dana. This week, I write to you in my capacity as President of the Association de Danasati.

As some of you may know, the activities at Sala Dana are managed by the Association de Danasati, a Spanish non-profit that was founded around the time of the opening of Sala Dana to be the “tenant” at the local and manage the activities there. Like most Associations in Spain, it has a general assembly made of associates. According to its by-laws, Danasati is to have a meeting of the general assembly at least once per year. This year, the meeting will be held at Sala Dana on March 28, 2026 at 16;30. It will also be on Zoom.

If you are not already an associate of the Association de Danasati and would like to be, you can apply to be an associate. As an associate, you will be able to participate in decisions concerning the Association, and vote on applicants for the board of directors. The primary responsibility of being an associate is attending the annual meeting. The agenda at the upcoming meeting will be to approve the minutes of the last meeting, vote on filling any board vacancies and vote on modifying the by-laws of the Association to adopt a new Mission Statement. If we have time, we will also explore whether there is any interest in growing the association to include more Buddhist and meditation activities than currently offered.

Board of Directors

In order to be a member of the board, a person must first be an associate. The by-laws of the Association are very specific about how this is done. Associates are given 15 days to apply for a board vacancy, and then the General Assembly must convene within 7 days to vote on the applicants. So if we count backwards from the General Assembly meeting date of March 28th, we need to have the applications for the board positions by March 21. This means the notification of any board vacancies must occur by March 6, 2026, 15 days before March 21. In order to be notified, you must be part of the General Assembly. This gives anyone who wants to become an associate and therefore eligible to be notified until March 5th 2026 to apply. The existing board members vote on new associates of the Association. The General assembly votes on which associates can serve on the board!

So, if you want to be an associate, which will give you a vote on any decisions the Association decides to make, and will make you eligible to be on the board, you must submit the application form found at https://saladana.org/danasati/ by March 5th, 2026  There you can also find a link to the Danasati by-laws.

Thanks again for your attention and practice,

With metta,

Jim Forbes
